Our Vision statement:
Engaging people in an open, nurturing community, promoting intellectual curiosity, honoring human rights and religious differences, and providing service to just causes.

This statement isn’t just words. It gives you at least some idea of what the Unitarian Society of Menomonie is about. But this statement is more than just words to us at the Unitarian Society of Menomonie. It is our guide in our shared journey as we live out our faith.

You are a seeker if you are reading this. Perhaps mainstream churches are not a good fit. Maybe you know in your heart that you do not believe the message or foundations of mainstream churches. Unitarian Society of Menomonie is not only a church based on the seven principles of the Unitarian Universalist Association of America but we believe that church should help us become better people and that we should try to make the world a better place. We also believe that we should ask questions, be seekers on our own spiritual journey, forming community with other fellow seekers. To quote one of our hymn tunes, “We Laugh, We Cry,”

“We laugh, we cry, we live, we die; we dance, we sing our song.
We need to feel there’s something here to which we can belong.
We need to feel the freedom just to have some time alone.
But most of all we need close friends we can call our very own.
And we believe in life, and in the strength of love;
And we have found a need to be together.
We have our hearts to give, we have our thoughts to receive;
And we believe that sharing is an answer.”

So, as you explore various religious organizations and denominations, please keep in mind that the Unitarian Society of Menomonie is a liberal religious community that takes our Vision Statement very seriously. They are more than just words to us. They are how we live our lives. We hope you’ll visit us soon.

Juliana Schmidt
Chair
Unitarian Society of Menomonie

We are a welcoming congregation. People of all ages, racial or ethnic backgrounds, sexual and affectional orientations, gender identities, socio-economic classes, and abilities are valuable members of our community.

Individuals, no matter their sexual orientation, race, or color will find a warm, safe place at our meetings. Unitarian Universalists have been at the forefront of advocacy for equal rights and acceptance for members of the LGBTQIA community, and we are strong supporters of Side with Love, which includes the right of anyone to marry the person they love.

We believe we are all enriched when the horizons of our lives are expanded by the perspective someone with different experiences can offer. Whoever you are, you have gifts to offer.
